Pages United Multicultural Directory

Pages United provides a multicultural directory to be able to find community specific resources where you live. Their focus is to help people find businesses in their area through an advanced search system.

Involved in heavily customizing a Joomla template along with integrating the advanced Joomla based Sobi 2 Directory System with Account Expiration Control (AEC) to provide a multi level directory subscription system. This project required indepth customization of the Sobi 2 code to improve the display and to be able to scale the data model when searching large volumes of information.  This was in part helped by adding additional query caching using the PHP Alternative PHP Cache (APC) to help improve overall site performance. We also integrated the AD Agency advertisement based system into Sobi2 to allow for targeting advertisements based on the specified criteria. One of our favourite modules used to accomplish some of the integration at the Joomla module level with custom php code was MetaMod Pro.

Opening the Mind

"If we are always looking for some object, person, or place to create a sense of completion for ourselves, we miss entirely the degree to which we are whole and complete in every moment."
